While still a student of photography Daniel R. Jarvis has made great strides to becoming a truly unique & creative new artist. He often takes an experimental approach to image making, both in materials used and in how he conceives his work. He has strong technical skills in photography, yet allows randomness and chance to play a large role in his work, especially in regards to his use of photographic materials and processes. As a result, his work conveys a sense of excitement and immediacy, and engages discourse both within and outside the standard critical models for photographic work. Dan's creative work is very strong, as evidenced by his winning several prestigious student awards, including Best of Show, First Place, and Purchase awards from the League for Innovation Student Art Competition and most recently winning an Honorable Mention at BAC’s 31st Annual Plaza Art Competition. Dan is currently attending Columbia College Chicago finishing a BFA in Photography.
